Apple Cores

apple core top

I have been working on this quilt top using the Sizzix Apple Core die for a good month now.  For some reason, though I didn’t think that the project would be quick, I didn’t expect it to be so slow! I haven’t had any trouble with it but it is definitely the slow and steady kind of sewing.

I just realized that while I have been sharing my progress on instagram, I hadn’t on my blog!  I am using a fat quarter stack of Baby Jane by Eric and Julie Comstock which is available at the Fat Quarter Shop. The vintage feel of the fabric line just suited the apple core shape in my opinion.

At this point, I am mid-way through quilting. I will be sharing the full tutorial on the Sizzix blog as well as finished pictures of the quilt at the beginning of September.  Now, back to quilting I go!

  3. Laura Davies says:

Those things look like a pain to sew. Your work is beautiful! All nicely lined up:)

  4. I think the choice of apple core shapes is just perfect for this fabric line. It’s a cheerful little quilt!

  5. That is some very tedious piecing! I’ve only done that block by hand. can’t wait to see the finish!
    Really is so adorable!

  6. I love it, but it does look very tricky. Curves are way beyond me at the moment I think.

  7. Super cute. Way too advanced for my skill level. But it is beautiful.

  8. I love it and amazing colors and fabric choices

  9. Karrie Smith says:

  10. Nancy Peach says:

It really does look good… can’t help but love apples in the fall. Happy quilting, can’t wait to see the progress!

  11. Well, it’s definitely going to be a beauty. Those soft, dreamy colors are very nice with this pattern. Woven and gentle.

  12. i have some epp apple core papers waiting for me. i bet your sizzix way is much quicker, but i do have a thing for making things complicated 🙂 anyway, i love apple core shapes and this piece is lovely.
