Rose Dreams WIP

Rose Dreams WIP

Do you remember this WIP? I last shared it in March of 2013! I had made 8 blocks at that time and over the last few days, I’ve made 4 more. I am still a long way from the queen sized quilt I am planning.

Rose Dreams detail

The block is called Rose Dream and it is a vintage block that I am piecing using a Sizzix die. The quilt is intended for our bedroom and we have periwinkle blue walls and linen white trim. Our rug has some mustard/citron and dusty green in it. So I am using many shades of white and off white for the background fabric in each block with prints in blue, green and citron.

I started this quilt at the Boston Modern Quilt Guild retreat last March and plan to bring it to work on some more this March when I attend this year’s joint BMQG and Seacoast Modern Quilt Guild retreat. I just have to precut a few more pieces and I will have plenty to keep me busy! The blocks are not difficult but they are slow going.

I did notice that my curved piecing has improved in the past year. The curves on the blocks that I just made are a little bit smoother than the ones I made last year. So, that makes me happy. I might make one or two more and then I am putting it away again till the retreat!

  1. This is going to be a lovely quilt, it is such a great block. A good idea to take them on a retreat.

  2. This is a great design. I saw a quilting pattern in a magazine that called for curved piecing and I’m still trying to decide if I want to try it. I’ve been sewing all my life, but am still rather new to quilting. So much to learn!

  3. It does look lovely, well worth all the effort :)

  4. This is coming along so nicely! I think it will be a unique and beautiful quilt.
