Filtered Sunlight

Filtered Sunlight by Judy Durant

I’m so proud of my mom!  This is my mom’s quilt titled “Filtered Sunlight.”  She (Judy Durant) has been sewing for years and years and was the one who taught me to sew.  But this is only her second quilt and the first quilt that she has completed start to finish on her own.  I love the gradations of grey that she used for the background. It just makes the quilt.  The circular quilting helps emphasize her design too.

She made this quilt for the Modern Quilt Guild Michael Miller Fabric Challenge and it is one of the 9 finalists.  See the blog post here.  Good luck mom!

  7. I has no idea your mom was a sewist, too! I love this quilt and agree that the greys are fabulous. Good luck! Free fabric for a year would be pretty amazing!

wow Mum you have done a wonderful job here, looks the work of a quilter who has been quilting for years, now you need to have a blog so we can all follow your journey. Must have been strange doing a 1/4″ seam after 5/8″ for general sewing

  9. Oh Amy you should really be very proud of your mum. The pattern and the fabrics she used are so well balanced and the quilting plays such a basic role for the final result — it is very poetic (I don’t know if my English is good enough to be able to express myself…) please keep us informed of the results!
