This project has been weeks in the making. It hasn’t been my top priority since we still have some time before Christmas so it kept getting dropped for other projects. I have been anxious to combine my “Partridge in a Pear Tree” linocut with “In a Pear Tree” from the Twelve Days fabric collection by Sharyn Sowell for Clothworks.
And finally, here it is, a mini quilt wall hanging that measures approximately 9″ wide by 13″ high. It features an impression made from my hand carved linoleum block onto an Essex/Cotton blend in high quality red silkscreening ink that was heat set. Fussy cut piecing below highlights the words “Partridge in a Pear Tree” from the fabric line I mentioned.
I added in a bit of my beloved linen embellished with red hand stitches in embroidery floss. I found that the Nicey Jane worked in really “nicely” for the binding. If you hadn’t considered it for a Christmas fabric before, you just might want to!
Most of the quilting is tightly spaced and straight line but I free motion quilted the linocut and I love the depth that it adds.
I have to say that I am overwhelmed by the interest in my “Quilting Process” Mini Quilt Kit. I sold out of the five kits that I prepared in less than 24 hours. Thank you! I will certainly be making more but I am waiting on another bolt of fabric. In the meantime, I will be cutting stencils.
And finally, thank you to everyone who voted for my pincushion in the Above All Fabric contest. I was excited to learn that I won the $25 gift certificate! I appreciate all of your support. Now I must go fabric shopping!
