Vintage Collection Half Apron

An apron is the obvious choice for a kitchen print so it seemed right to design one using my “Vintage Collection” screen print. The neat thing about this design, is that it uses the entire fabric panel. All you need to do is trim the edges to square them up. This is great for those who are scared to cut into their prints (I have heard this more than a few times now!).

First, I squared up the corners of my print. Then I used this great tutorial to add the nicely finished border with mitered corners to three sides of the print; not the top. Then I just constructed your basic half apron and attached the print as a second layer at the waistband(much like the little girls’ apron dresses that are all the rage). So you get an apron on top of an apron.

It’s a easy project. The trickiest part is adding the border to the print but Penny’s tutorial is nice and clear and easy to follow. While you are over checking out her tutorial, she just so happens to be hosting a “Vintage Collection” giveaway today. Can you believe that my print started her Catherineholm collection? It makes me smile.
