Bathroom Accessories and a Winner!

Have you seen Ayumi’s tutorial for a nifty tissue box cover? A friend made one for my downstairs bathroom when we renovated it last year. It makes such a difference to always have a matching tissue box. You know how awful it is when you have the clashing box or two of tissues that come in the value pack right? This takes care of that problem in a jiffy!

Above the toilet, I hung a metal rack that used to hang in our kitchen in our last home. It was black but I spray painted it white. I don’t know why I don’t use spray paint more often. It’s amazing! It can make such a big difference in such a short time. The rack is hung from an adorable handcrafted metal bird hook that my husband purchased last year for my Christmas stocking. It took nearly a year but I found the perfect spot for it! I plan to fill the rack with spare hand towels, facecloths and other prettier toiletries like lotion bottles, etc.
And finally, here is the curtain for the window.

It is very simple. Basically, I used the width of my seed catalogue fabric and added a 4″ band of the coordinating dot.

I measured the window for the correct length, and then, with right sides together, I stitched it to a piece of white Kona for the lining. I turned the whole thing and edge stitched around the perimeter and along the seam line for the bottom band. By doing so, the lining should never slip around to the front and show.

We hung the curtain from rings with clips. We didn’t hang a shade or blinds in the bathroom. Instead, we will just pull the curtain across at night and open it during the day. It works like a charm.
Now that you have humored me by reading through this final post on my bathroom update, I will reveal the winner of the Fat Quarter Shop giveaway!

Love your shower curtain! You did an awesome job! I would get Hometown if I won. Thanks for the chance to win.

Michelle, you made an excellent choice. I might have just picked up a little of this print, and this print, this print, this print too! I can’t wait for it to arrive.
