Michelle was kind enough to share a free tutorial on her blog for the Dumpling zip pouch. I had to give it a try! It was nice and quick and easy with only two pieces to cut. The exterior is all one piece and the lining is too. I hadn’t tried a project like this before with the zipper on a curve. It was surprisingly easy though. You simply clip the zipper as you would clip a piece of fabric when piecing on a curve. I made the larger size bag which is so tiny that I don’t feel a need to go smaller! It’s very cute and I am thinking that these would make great teacher’s gifts this year at Christmas.
I used some of the new DS Quilts fabric for the exterior, navy Kona for the lining with chartruese Kona for the binding on the raw edges inside the pouch.
I highly recommend Michelle’s patterns. They are very clear and well thought through with good tips and result in a professional looking product. Check out her patterns here.
