I really feel in love with the little crabs, especially the one with the aqua herringbone pattern, and decided to make a paper pieced block featuring Crabby! (I did this with Laurie’s permission of course.) I pieced Crabby with orange Kona and used two black buttons for his eyes. The background fabric is the newsprint from the Crabtastic line by Blend Fabrics–the perfect coordinate for this line I think!
The center panel of the bag is the sailboat print.
If you click on this picture, you may be able to see my quilting. The sailboats are spaced far enough apart so that you can quilt little waves below them! Perfect! I quilted the sides of the bag too, mimicking the pattern of organic, slightly wavy lines found within the squares of the side panel print.
There’s more! I have a fat quarter bundle of Laurie’s “Don’t be Crabby” to share with one lucky winner and a free Crabby pattern to share with another! To enter, please leave one comment telling me what you might make with the fabric/Crabby pattern if you win. For a second chance, leave a comment on Laurie’s blog and let me know that you did. I will draw two winners on Tuesday Nov. 6th. Good luck!
Oh wait, there is even more! Laurie is also offering a fat quarter bundle of “Don’t be Crabby” on her blog as well as a copy of the Crabby paper pieced pattern! Her giveaway will run through Nov. 7th.
Edited to add, thank you all for entering! What a wonderful response!
The winner of the Don’t be Crabby FQ bundle is most appropriately blue.crab. How perfect is that?
The winner of the Crabby pattern is KristyQP.
Thank you for entering and good luck tomorrow with the drawing on Laurie’s blog!
