The people at Windham Fabrics were kind enough to send me some charms of Cream and Sugar, a new fabric collection by Ampersand Design Studio.  I immediately knew what I would make with them.  Quite awhile ago, I made the paper pieced Kitchen Aid mixer (pattern by Sew Ichigo).  I wanted to turn it into a Kitchen Aid cover but I had a dilemma.  We are slowly remodelling our house from 1820.  We haven’t gotten to the kitchen yet. It must have last been remodelled in the 60s/70s and is the ultimate Brady Bunch kitchen.  We have orange Formica counter tops and fake brick walls and dark wood cabinets.  It makes me cringe.  So I didn’t want to make a pretty cover only to have it clash or have to remake it when we remodel.  Then along came Cream and Sugar.  The collection is full of cute tea prints and they include orange so it works with my Brady Bunch kitchen!

I used my Sizzix Half Hexagon Die to create the long rectangular pattern.

I backed everything with fusible fleece and bound the bottom.  My favorite print is the neutral tea bag print–I will be wanting yardage of that one!

Cream and Sugar will be available soon at the Fat Quarter Shop.
