Do you have a little one who would love a bunny bag for Easter?  This bag is easy to make and so cute!

Supplies:

FQ exterior fabric
FQ lining
Scraps
2 buttons
HeatnBond Fleece Fusible
HeatnBond Non Woven Craft Fusible Extra Firm
HeatnBond Fusible Soft
HeatnBond Lite

All seam allowances are 1/4″.

To begin, download your pattern pieces.  Print the pattern pieces at actual size or no scaling.

Place your bag body pattern on the fold and cut two for the lining and two for the bag body.  Cut two from the fusible fleece and fuse the fleece to the wrong sides of the outer bag body (the floral in this sample).

Cut one piece, 4″ wide x 14 1/2″ long for the bag handle.  Fuse a piece of soft interfacing measuring 2″ wide x 14 1/2″ long down the center of the wrong side.  Fold the strap wrong sides together and crease with iron.  Open out and fold outer edges into the crease and press.  Fold in half again to create a strap measuring 1″ wide x 14 1/2″ long.  Edgestitch.

Cut two bunny pocket pieces from white fabric and one from the soft interfacing.  Fuse the soft interfacing to the wrong side of the pocket front.  Using HeatnBond Lite, attach a heart shaped nose.  Using your free motion presser foot, stitch around the heart, stitch the mouth and whiskers.  Sew two buttons for the eyes.

Cut 4 ears from white fabric.  Cut 2 from HeatnBond Craft Fusible Extra Firm.  Fuse them to the wrong side of the ear fronts.  Cut two inner ear pieces from pink (slightly smaller than the outer ear) and fuse using HeatnBond Lite to the ear fronts and raw edge applique.

With right sides together sew around the curved edge of the bunny pocket, leaving the top open.  Turn the pocket through the opening.  Turn the upper edge in and edgestitch.

With right sides together, sew the ears with scant 1/4″ seams.  Clip the curves and turn.  This will be difficult but it is possible.  Place the ears on the bag front and the pocket on top. Position as you like.  Remove the pocket but keep the ears in place.

Using a zig zag stitch, secure the ears to the bag front.  Place the bunny pocket on top of the ears and edgestitch around the curve to attach the pocket.

With right sides together, sew the bag fronts leaving the upper edge open.  Do the same with the lining but leave an opening in the bottom for turning as shown in the image above.

Secure the handle to the bag, centered on the side seams.

Insert the lining into the bag, right sides together.  Sew around the upper edge.  Make sure you don’t catch the bunny ears or straps in your seam.  Turn through the opening in the lining.  Press upper edge and edgestitch.  Hand sew your opening closed and your Easter Bunny Bag is done!
