The idea for this quilt has been kicking around for well over a year now so I figured it was time to just make it. It’s a quilt inspired by my 1920s barn door but done in a very modern way. While I was going for a modern look, I also wanted to retain some of the “barn-ness” of it so I chose to use Les Amis by Patty Sloniger Foix Bois in white for the door panels.
And to achieve the texture of our peeling, lead paint covered barn, I am quilting straight lines set 1/4″ apart. I am thinking now that this was a bit insane because it is taking forever but look at that texture! I am half way there so maybe next week I will have a quilt to share with you.
