Thanks to the generosity of Oakshott Fabrics and Lynne, I have spent the last few days playing with a gorgeous stack of Italy Oakshott. Italy is a collection of 12 colors shot across a silver grey warp. I happen to be in love with silver grey at the moment so it struck a cord with me. I particularly like the shades of grey/silver and purple/lavenders in this collection.
I really love Oakshott used on it’s own. It’s such a fine fabric and so unique that I feel like it doesn’t need anything added. But I thought I might use just a touch of something else to compliment it in this project. I chose these little squares of Floral Forest in Plum from the Notus Collection by Daiwabo purchased at Sew Me A Song. It was hard to make the first cut into both the linen and the Oakshott! I decided to use my Sizzix and make quick work of it before I had a chance to change my mind about my design plan!
I used the 2 1/2″ half square triangle die, 6 1/2″ half square triangle die and the 2 1/2″ square. The patchwork pattern is based on a traditional one; I believe it is called Delectable Mountains.
As always, it was a treat to sew with these fabrics. They have become more readily available in the US in the past number of months. For example, you can find some at Marmalade Fabrics.
