I designed this block for my Christmas/winter series based on my little girl’s toddler sized mittens with ruffly cuffs.  She may outgrow those sweet mittens but I will have this block to remind me of all the times I slipped them onto her hands.  Sigh.

I used BasicGrey’s Aspen Frost which is available at the Fat Quarter Shop to sew my block, along with Vanilla Grunge from Marmalade Fabrics.

It’s really fun to choose fabrics for this block. There are so many possibilities because mittens come in all colors and patterns. It would be fun to make them using a quilting cotton with a printed knit design. The block is easy to sew with only a couple of seams to match up. The pattern can be found in my Etsy shop and Craftsy shops.
