On Christmas Eve, I received my copies of Playful Little Paper-Pieced Projects in the mail! I knew that they had been shipped because others on Instagram were receiving them but it took a couple more days to reach New England. It was exciting just the same to hold it in my hands and flip through it. This book was compiled by Tacha Bruecher and contains paper pieced patterns made by many designers. There is a section containing a block design for each month of the year so that you can make a calendar quilt. Or, you can make just the block and a project that is also included. The project ideas are very diverse with no duplication.
My design is the block for the month of February. I wanted a Valentine’s Day inspired design that wasn’t hearts so I settled on the idea of love letters. My accompanying project is a quilted journal cover.
The book also has some paper pieced projects that are separate from the calendar project, and a section explaining the “how to” of paper piecing. I love that all the designers names are familiar to me and that it’s such a great collection of projects by so many of my friends. The photographs are lovely. And the patterns are all contained on a CD in the back of the book which is really handy.
Some of my favorite projects are:
Kylie’s Liberty Street Potholder
Charise’s Kite Tote
and Julianna’s Bicycle Basket.
You can find the link to the book here where you can see some of the other projects and a list of all the wonderful contributors to the book.
