For my first Sizzix tutorial of the year, I decided to tackle the Double Wedding Ring. I figure it is on most quilter’s bucket lists and the New Year is a time for crossing some of those off right? When attempting a new block, I often like to start with a smaller project. For many, the thought of making a large Double Wedding Ring quilt is intimidating. Starting out by making a finished mini quilt or table topper with just one complete ring is a good way to get rid of those fears. I used the Sizzix Double Wedding Ring die for this project which creates a finished ring measuring 18″.
I started with my background fabric as inspiration. It’s Finnelopy in Aqua from Novella by Valori Wells, purchased at Sew Fresh Fabrics. I love the wintery, icy feel and chose fabrics that coordinated but also had that woodsy feel. I used a couple of the True Colors woodgrains from Marmalade Fabrics which I just love and a some coordinates from my stash.
I am sharing a step by step tutorial for this project on the Sizzix blog today. I feel like I could definitely handle a quilt full of these blocks now and just might if I can settle on fabric. We’ll see!
