I didn’t accomplish as much as I thought I would at retreat. Perhaps it’s because I was more chatty than last year. How could I help it? I was sitting with my mother to one side, and Peg from Sew Fresh Fabrics across the table. Plus, we were sitting close to the snack table so we had lots of visitors.
Before I left, I promised my girls that I would make each of them a Geranium Dress using Wee Wander by Sarah Jane. The pattern is by Made by Rae and can be purchased here. I’ve been very happy with it and highly recommend it. It’s a classic girl’s dress with a button closure and a couple of sleeve and neckline options. I have made it the same way each time though because I favor the cap sleeve and keyhole at the neckline.
I made this goof ball the size 6. She can still fit into her size 5 dress but the weather for this dress is still a few months away here in New England and I want it to last through the summer.
I made a size 12 for big sis. I fussy cut both tops so that a horse was placed in the center front. On the littler dress, I was able to put the horse with rider there but it would have meant wasting a lot of fabric cutting the size 12 that way so I centered it on a regular horse. Both are cute. The dresses have hot pink buttons in the back.
Wee Wander is selling fast. You can still get some of the prints at Fresh Squeezed Fabric and the Fat Quarter Shop.
I will try to post pictures of all these spring dresses being properly modeled with white sandals and sunshine as soon as the girls can do that without turning purple and getting covered in goosebumps. The next dress I am sewing is the Oliver & S Garden Party Dress. It’s all cut and just waiting for sewing time.
