I wanted to let you know that I designed an easy-sew quilt for McCall’s Quick Quilts December/January 2015 issue. The quilt features BasicGrey’s Mon Ami fabric for Moda. One of my favorite prints in the collection is a line drawing of little houses tightly packed together. That print inspired this design. It’s constructed with a super simple, traditionally pieced block with three houses of different heights. Sewn in rows, the house blocks create village streets. Isn’t it fun to focus on the shapes created by the negative space here as well as the houses?
I must thank Janet Hill who actually sewed the quilt and machine quilted it as well. She did a lovely job.
Both the flat and styled photographs of the quilt are courtesy of McCall’s.
If you are interested, there is more information about this quilt as well as kits for making it, available right here. There is also a fun video on the McCall’s Facebook page that gives you a preview of all the quilts in the issue.
Subscription issues began shipping October 13, 2015. By October 27, 2015, the issue will be available on newsstands, as well as in print or digital download format at QuiltandSewShop.com.
You know, I think you have time to sew a Village Street Quilt for a Christmas gift. It’s really that quick and easy…but so cute too!
