Today we are kicking off a week long blog hop featuring my debut fabric collection, Improv. You can read all about it in the introductory post on the Benartex blog. You will want to read the blog each morning because at 9:30 each day, there will be a new post directing you to one of my talented friends who has made a project with Improv. I have seen a couple “sneak peeks” but haven’t seen any finished shots so I am eagerly looking forward to the posts as well! Oh, and I heard rumors of some fabric giveaways too!
I also wanted to let you know that I designed a free pattern using Improv that is available as a pdf download for both shops (who can kit it!) and individuals. You can download it here. I named this quilt Tranquil. It’s based on a traditional block design but floats in negative space and includes partial blocks at the corners, giving it a modern flair.
As you will read in the Benartex post, I was interested in creating subsets of color with this collection so that you could create very different looks by keeping some of the neutrals and swapping out the colors for different prints in the collection. I love using EQ7 to quickly mock up different possibilities. You can see here two other colorways of Tranquil that I created in EQ7:
Maybe you will prefer the peach version?
Or maybe the deep rose is more to your taste? I love how each quilt top can look so different and yet, they are all created from the same fabric collection.
I hope you will join me on the blog hop tomorrow as we see what my friends have made to inspire us! I can’t wait!
