I am excited to share my Selvage Whirlwind Block Pattern! Yesterday, I asked, “who collects selvages?” on Instagram and found out that so many of you do! I am certainly not the only one who loves the cute designs on some selvages, and the names of the designers and their collections. In 2014, I thought long and hard about a block design that would really showcase selvages. This is what I came up with!

I finished this quilt in April of 2014…exactly 5 years ago! I have been intending to write up the block pattern but time got away from me, as it often does. But I am happy to announce that it is now ready! I am selling the block pattern as a PDF in my shop here on my web site and in my Etsy shop. The pattern includes step by step photos that will help you if you haven’t worked with selvages before. I can’t wait to see the pillows, runners, and quilts that you make!

My new blocks use Art Gallery Fabrics denim for the background fabric, unlike my original. I definitely do not have enough selvages right now to make another quilt but I am going to make a block or two periodically, when I collect enough of a particular color. I’d love it if you would join me! If you share pictures on social media, use the hashtag #selvagewhirlwind.
