Would you like to join me sewing house blocks in 2020? Next Door is a Block of the Month program composed of 12 unique houses representing different time periods and regions in the US. I have been mulling over a project like this for so long and am glad that its time has come! You might not know this, but my background is in art history. I reached out to a former colleague, Victoria Solan, an architectural historian. She made suggestions about what style homes to include and then, once I designed each pattern, she let me know if it read properly as that style house. It was fun collaborating with her and now, I can claim that this BOM is architectural historian approved! How often can you say that about your quilts, lol? The finished quilt measures 60” x 72” and the blocks are arranged in a modern, alternate grid layout.
What can you expect?
–12 unique, paper pieced house block patterns delivered one at a time on the first of the month (the order will be a surprise).
–full size patterns with colored, numbered diagrams
–exclusive content for members only through 2020
–modern, alternate gridwork quilt top layout
–directions to assemble portions of the quilt top as you go so that you end up with 5 sections that are easily combined in December
–information on the style house you are sewing
–tips for fabric selection and possible fussy cutting opportunities
Basic paper piecing instructions will not be included. It’s assumed that you know the basics of paper piecing but if you need to brush up, check out my Youtube video.
A Welcome PDF is available at the time of purchase. It will get you started planning and precutting.
Yardage Requirements: 4 yards of background fabric, 4 1/2 yards backing fabric, 1/2 yard binding fabric
How do I join?
The Block of the Month program costs $60 for the year, that’s the equivalent of just $5 a month! Through 11/25/2019, the BOM will be available at a 10% discount. Then it will go back to the regular price.
I hope you will join me! It’s going to be fun!
