Fiddleheads 2

My Petal + Stem book is all about mixing and matching flower and stem blocks within the various quilt design layouts provided in the book. I really enjoyed making my first version of Fiddleheads for the book and once I designed the Meadow Bouquet, a collection of pdf patterns that added to the options found in the book, I needed to make another version to include the new possibilities! (Fiddleheads 2 is pictured above)

This is my original Fiddleheads. One of the things that I love about it is that it can be flipped and there is really no top or bottom. If you look at the two images carefully, you will see that my Fiddleheads 2 quilt is hung “upside down” compared to this one. Yet it doesn’t matter a bit!

Fiddleheads 2 in made with an Icy Mint background by Art Gallery Fabrics. The backing of the quilt is an Anna Maria Horner print that pulls many of the colors together. I often quilt in a crosshatch design but this time, I followed the lines of the elongated rectangular blocks so that my quilting is diamond shaped. I used an Aurifil 40 weight thread that matched so well!
