My Gulls Quilt hung at QuiltCon last month and there was interest in the pattern. I also had a couple of readers request is again recently, giving me the little push necessary to turn all my notes into a pattern. I am happy to say that the PDF pattern is now available for download from my Etsy shop or my PDF shop.

When I designed this quilt, I didn’t set out to design a quilt featuring gulls. Instead, I began with an improvisationally designed paper pieced block, and following the design techniques that I explain in my Improv Paper Piecing book, and class by the same name, arrived at this design. Through the design process, color palette, and color placement, it began to look like seagulls flying over the ocean at sunset. So, that’s how it got its name.
This pattern assumes a general knowledge of foundation paper piecing. It includes full sized templates. And there is a coloring sheet as well. I hope you enjoy it!
