Crazy Eights is a pattern from my first book, Intentional Piecing. My original version is pictured below.

I started a second version while teaching large scale intentional paper piecing. In this class, we work with intentional placement of stripes to create a dynamic, modern design, while paper piecing on a larger foundation. I decided to make my class samples totally different from my original and used a dark charcoal solid for the background and stripes in pink, mustard, purple, yellow, navy and grey.

I quilted the first myself but I had this one quilted for me by Christina Lane. I love the quilting design that we settled on called Reverb.

The backing is a beautiful Anna Maria Horner Fluent print that ties all the colors together nicely.

It feels good to turn all those workshop blocks into a complete quilt and I have long wanted to share a totally different take on this quilt, color-wise. I love both in different ways. How about you?
