Jagged Little Pill

What? A finished quilt? Yes, I finally finished my Jagged Little Pill Quilt. I set out to make a colorful quilt that used only fabrics from my stash, specifically, my leftover solids. And I achieved that!

I knew that my typical straight line or crosshatch quilting wasn’t going to work on this design so I asked my friend, Christina Lane, for a recommendation. She is a longarm quilter who has helped me with a number of my quilts and her advice is always fantastic. She sent me this screen shot. Prior to that, my plan was to echo the piecing but I thought this was probably smarter. Christina also suggested that I make a sample with both possibilities.

I really didn’t want to do that because I had to make another block and they take awhile! But I did anyway because it was sound advice. It also gave me a chance to trial my quilting thread color choice.

I went with Aurifil 2410 in a 50 weight, in case you are interested! Mostly, I am adding that here for a reminder to myself. And the test quilting did make it clear to me that Christina was correct and I went with her quilting plan.

Here’s just a pretty picture of my basted quilt because I like it!

I broke up the quilting over a few weeks while taking an Adobe Illustrator class. It was nice to bounce between the two tasks.

The quilting added a lot of lovely texture.

The finished quilt measures 48″ x 64.”

Thanks for following along on my journey!
