Phantom Bloom foundation paper pieced, modern quilt, with soft peach background and quilt blocks that are shaped like diamonds with little arms reaching into the block corners. The negative space looks like flowers. Quilt is draped over a rail fence.

Phantom Bloom is a modern, scrap-friendly quilt pattern designed for foundation paper piecing (FPP). Whether you love using up scraps or prefer a curated selection of fabrics, this pattern offers flexible cutting directions for scraps, fat quarters, or half yards. I created easy to glance at cutting diagrams for each possibility. And even more so, there’s a diagram for straightforward cutting from a fat quarter and a half yard and another for maximizing the yardage with more creative cutting.

Squint your eyes and focus on the negative space (background fabric), and you’ll see flowers emerge—hence the name, Phantom Bloom!
