I will take a better photo once the weather warms up a bit. I am not happy with the colors or lack of vibrancy in this photo! But I will share what I have, for now.

I continued to explore spiraling circular forms using foundation paper piecing in this new design. Unlike Eye of the Storm, which spirals out to the edges of the quilt, the focus of the design turns inward. I see the small, light pink/peach circle as being protected among the swirl of the other colors which is why I named it Protecting My Peace.

The matchstick quilting was mostly done with thread that matched the background fabric but there are a few lines across the quilt in the blue and the brick colors, as well as a softer shade of the gingerbread colored fabric. The quilt measured 36″ square prior to my quilting but shrank up about an inch or so in both directions. I decided to face it, as I did with Eye of the Storm, because binding feels a little too chunky once a quilt has been matchstick quilted.

I will likely return to these design ideas in the future.
