It’s been a few years since I designed a block of the month but I decided that it was time! I love living in coastal New England. This quilt was designed to share my little part of the world, which might be your home too, or remind you of a coastal vacation.

I designed this BOM without a self imposed12 block limit, which resulted in 18 unique blocks! I just set out to make a good design, regardless of the number. Due to the subject matter, I thought it would be fun to start sewing in the fall, as we leave summer behind, and complete the quilt in time for next summer. So the end result, is an accelerated 9 month BOM with multiple blocks a month which should help keep momentum going!

Here’s what you need to know!

Start Date:

The BOM starts September 15th and runs for 9 months. New patterns will be available on the 15th of every month.

What is Included:

When you purchase the BOM, you can immediately download two documents. One explains how to log in and retrieve your blocks each month and gets you signed up for the BOM newsletters. The second is a Welcome Packet that includes general information, yardage requirements, a cutting chart for the background fabric, and a schedule. Each month, you will receive 2-3 block patterns with full color block diagrams and full size templates. Because some of the blocks are larger than a sheet of paper, there is some taping required. Every third month, there will also be instructions to assemble 1/3 of the quilt top. This will give you a great deal of satisfaction, watching the quilt top grow and be assembled as you go!

Skill Level:

A general knowledge of foundation paper piecing is expected. I would classify this project as intermediate. However, enthusiastic, determined beginners are welcome. Just prepare by watching some videos first (you can see my YouTube videos) and testing your skills on a few free block patterns. The BOM is also complex enough to keep advanced paper piecers’ attention.

Quilt Size:

The quilt finishes at 60″ x 72″. If you want to make a bed quilt, I would suggest adding borders to hang down the sides of the bed and leaving the pieced design centered on the bed.

Joining Once BOM has Started:

You can join at any time. When you log on, you will be able to download any blocks that have been released to that date. You will begin receiving newsletters on the 15th of the following month.
