The combination of wonky log cabins, cats, and yarn is irresistible, even to this designer who is highly allergic! This foundation paper pieced quilt pattern is a great way to use strip scraps. The pattern assumes a general knowledge of foundation paper piecing but if you know the basics, you can make this quilt. The wonky log cabin piecing makes it feel familiar even if you do not FPP every day.

There are so many possibilities:
You can make your cat head and body blocks with a single piece of fabric and skip the log cabins.
You can choose scraps in realistic cat colors and use a different color for the yarn.
Each cat/yarn could be pieced from a different color family.

Fabric Requirements:

brights:
Assortment of strips ranging from 1 1/2″ x 4″ in a variety of colors

background fabric:
3 yards chambray fabric*

*Background yardage was calculated for solid fabric or a non-directional print.

backing: 2 yards plus a 15″ x 72″ accent strip

binding: 1/2 yard

Pattern includes numbered, colored diagrams as well as full size, mirror image pattern pieces, ready for foundation piecing.

Basic paper piecing directions are not included. This pattern is most suitable for the confident paper piecer.

A supplemental sheet is available to download with information needed to make this quilt in a Christmas version using the Catmas Carols fabric collection by Pammie Jane. Making the Christmas version requires an additional purchase of the Vintage Ornaments Pattern Bundle.
