I was working in EQ8, using my improv paper piecing method, and the quilt I was sketching resembled avocados between the shapes and the colors I was using. That made me smile so I ditched the design and set off to design a realistic avocado. Before I knew it, I was designing toast. Then I was making empty avocado halves to pair with some of the pitted avocados. I worked on my design wall to come up with the layout and size as I was working.
From the start, I knew I was going to quilt in a grid. I didn’t know what color would blend best and surprised myself by choosing a neon yellow/green. I really like it too! I think it works great!

It’s been a really enjoyable project. I find my creative projects important in keeping my spirits up and this one was great for that. I hope it brings a smile to your face as well.
My finished quilt measures 48″ x 56″.

What a happy quilt! I hope there will someday be a pattern for this! 🥰
The pattern is now in my shop! There are also some fabric bundles in my Etsy shop in the colors that I used.
